The Eighth grade science classes will be starting a unit on comprehensive sexual health in late spring. All 8th grade students are required by the State of California to have access to health education as outlined by the California Healthy Youth Act (CHYA). The curriculum covers a range of topics, including:
1. Prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
2. Understanding healthy relationships
3. Making informed decisions about sexual health
We recognize the vital role that parents and guardians play in their children's education. As a child's first teacher, you have the right to know and decide what curriculum your child accesses. To support parents in understanding the curriculum, we will be hosting informational meetings prior to the start of instruction, which will take place during the second semester.
The Parent Information Night will be held in person at Roosevelt on 1/17/2025 from 5:30-6:30.
Specific information about the topics and dates of delivery will be sent out in mid spring before the content is taught to students. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Poisson at 209-574-1930.
