The Modesto Virtual Academy Chess Club goals are to enhance students' critical thinking skills and provide social engagement with their peers, through recreational chess. The club will focus on providing positive reinforcement of their efforts to learn chess in a fun environment. We will allow students to engage in online learning and in person activities which will enrich their educational experience. Playing chess develops skills related to problem solving, logic, pattern recognition, creative thinking and sportsmanship.
