Inside the bustling Reprographics facility at Modesto City Schools, the machines don’t just hum, they sing. This is where creativity meets precision and where ink meets imagination. Whether it’s flyers, banners, booklets, or posters, the Reprographics team at Modesto City Schools has been the go-to for more than 50 years, transforming ideas into printed reality.
Until recently, the team operated out of a portable building on Woodland Avenue near Nutrition Services and the Transportation Yard. But after more than 25 years in that space, they’ve officially turned the page and moved into a more expansive home across the parking lot in the Modesto City Schools warehouse building.
Now located just steps from their old spot, the new setup offers more room and the opportunity to take their operations to the next level.
“The new space is designed to optimize productivity,” says Noel Aguilar, Supervisor of the MCS Warehouse and Reprographics. “With improved HVAC systems for temperature control and direct integration with the Warehouse department, the move has streamlined our operations. This means faster deliveries and more efficient service for our schools.”
Lead technicians Christopher Rowen and Debra Howey are two of the familiar faces you’ll find behind the presses. For Rowen, who’s been with Reprographics for nearly a decade, the change is more than cosmetic.
“I’m really pleased with the way the new space has allowed us to work more efficiently. Personally, I enjoy the higher ceilings and the sense of openness, it’s made a huge difference.”
The added square footage has made way for large-format printers that are already upping the team’s output, allowing for more ambitious, large-scale jobs.
Michelle Price, Executive Director of Business Services, helped lead the move, which was made possible after the IETS division moved across the street.
“With that shift, we were able to reimagine how the space could better serve our teams,” said Price. “This move gives Reprographics the space they need and also strengthens their connection with our delivery operations for a more seamless process.”
Still wondering what keeps this team motivated? For Rowen, it’s all about bringing other people’s visions to life.
“I enjoy working on bigger, more challenging projects. I love working with staff to turn their visions into reality and am thrilled whenever the customer gets to see the final product in their hands,” he said pridefully.
Thanks to this new chapter, Reprographics is printing stronger than ever, with more space, faster workflows, and the same commitment to quality that Modesto City Schools staff and students have relied on for more than five decades
