Modesto High Solar Panels

Modesto City Schools is moving forward on several major construction projects designed to enhance student learning spaces, support college and career pathways, and invest in long-term sustainability. Here’s a snapshot of current projects making an impact:

Davis High: Health Science Academy Nears Readiness

Construction is complete on the new Health Services Academy at Davis High School, a major step forward in expanding the school’s healthcare-focused Career Technical Education (CTE) offerings.

The $4.35 million facility is designed to support hands-on learning for students pursuing careers in the medical field and will serve as the future home of the Sports Medicine Pathway.

While final furnishings and equipment are still being installed, the Academy is expected to open to students in fall 2025. Once in use, the space will offer real-world learning experiences and prepare students for college, careers, and industry certifications in the growing health and wellness field.

Elliott Alternative Education Center: Multi-Use Shop Progressing Toward Fall Completion

Construction is moving forward on a new multi-use shop building at Elliott Alternative Education Center. It is expected to be completed in fall 2025, shortly after the start of the new school year.

Located near the front of campus, the new facility will give students access to hands-on learning spaces that support career technical education programs and real-world skill development. The project also includes upgrades to the school’s cafeteria, enhancing the overall campus experience.

With roof trusses already in place and steady progress on site, this $22.1 million project is a significant step forward in creating meaningful, career-connected learning opportunities for Elliott students.

Roosevelt Junior High: Science Lab Modernization Set to Begin

Roosevelt Junior High is preparing to launch a full science lab modernization this spring. The $7 million project will transform several classrooms into modern, hands-on learning environments, with updated lab stations and new prep space.

This two-phase modernization is scheduled to be completed in fall 2026. It will provide students with updated lab space that supports hands-on, 21st-century science instruction.

John Muir Elementary: New Cafeteria Nearing Completion

Construction on Muir Elementary School’s new cafeteria is in its final stages, with completion expected later this spring. Students are expected to begin using the new space at the start of the 2025–2026 school year.

The project is part of the district’s ongoing commitment to improving campus facilities and will offer a refreshed, functional dining space designed for better accessibility, comfort, and flow.

Davis High School: Track and Field Work Begins for Future Stadium

Work has begun on a new track and field at Davis High School, the first phase in the development of a future stadium. The new athletic space will support training and competition while enhancing the student experience on campus.

Beyer High School: Track Completion Marks New Era for Athletics

Beyer High’s track resurfacing is also complete, and the school will celebrate the milestone by hosting its first home track meet on Wednesday.

The upgrades provide athletes with a professional-grade surface for training and competition, reflecting the district’s continued investment in student health, wellness, and athletic excellence.

Enochs High School: Track Improvements Completed Over Spring Break

Enochs High School students returned from Spring Break to find a freshly resurfaced, striped track. The project, part of the district’s facilities improvement plan, was completed during the week of Spring Break, and the track is now fully open for student and athletic use.

The upgraded surface offers improved safety and performance for physical education classes, student-athletes, and school events.

Modesto High School: Ag Farm Project Prepares to Break Ground

Construction is expected to begin soon on Modesto High School’s new Ag Farm on Bangs Avenue. The $5.5 million project will provide dedicated space for agricultural science, supporting Future Farmers of America (FFA) and CTE pathways in plant and animal science.

The farm is expected to be completed by winter 2026 and will offer students real-world, hands-on learning experiences in a dynamic outdoor environment.

Modesto High School: Solar Project Moves Forward

Installation of a solar array at Modesto High began during Spring Break and is progressing as planned. Located in the student parking lot, the new system is part of Modesto City Schools’ districtwide clean energy initiative.

Once live, the project is expected to generate an estimated $12.7 million in cost savings over 30 years, while contributing to the district’s sustainability and environmental stewardship goals.

More to Come!

Construction activity is expected to pick up this spring, with several projects entering final planning stages or beginning site work in the weeks ahead.

From new learning environments to upgraded athletic spaces and sustainable energy solutions, Modesto City Schools remains committed to building a strong foundation for student success, today and into the future.
